The first distinction between On Demand water heaters is whether they operate on electricity or gas.
Electric tankless water heaters are wired to the home’s main electrical panel and can be used for residential whole home or point of use applications as well as commercial, industrial and farm applications.
Gas tankless water heaters operate on either propane or natural gas and have the capacity to heat over 6 gallons per minute (gpm) of water for whole home use. They are less likely to be used for point of use application because they require venting to the exterior of the house. Ecosmart is currently developing a gas tankless water heater line. The first two models that will be released will be 180,000 BTU for Natural Gas (NG) and Propane (LP) and will be available fourth quarter of 2011.

ECOSMART In-Line Shower Heaters are designed to provide a temperature rise of 20° to 25° from the incoming water temperature. This is based on the 1.5 gallon per minute flow rate emitted by the shower head and hand-held option included with the heater.
